There has been a lot of hype about the book and movie called Wild. The story is about Cheryl Strayed"s personal and transformative journey of backpacking the Pacific Crest Trail. I saw the film and thought that it was just okay. A bit too Hollywood for my taste.
I've done some 5, 10 and 15 day hikes, but never a 5 or 6 month thru-hike. I have always dreamed of doing a long thru-hike like the Camino del Santiago, Appalachian Trail (AT), Great Himalayan Trail or Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).
These two guys backpacked the PCT during one of the harshest weather hiking seasons on record and filmed their experience... as it happened. Personally, I think that this is a more realistic and inspirational adventure tale.
