This post is really not about the route to eastern Guatemala. It's really just showing some old friends some old landmarks.
Heading east along the Atlantic Highway to the wild wild east (oriente).
You pass a number of small inconspicous towns along the road.
Eventually the tierra (ground) starts to change to sand.
You pass by towns like Sanarate.
You pass towns like Rio Hondo, where there is a Star Mart/Food Mart.
And eventually the desert yields to the tropical coast.
